Concussion Assessment in Kapiti Coast & Levin

Concussion management is an evolving area of physiotherapy, with more research and understanding about this condition produced on a continual basis. Concussion is thought to be the result of abrupt movement of the brain within the skull, usually as the result of a head contact or whiplash-type mechanism of injury. While it is reported that 80% of concussion symptoms settle within 7-14 days (at an average of 10 days), long-term concussion symptoms lasting more than four weeks, known as Post-Concussion Syndrome (PCS), can have a major impact on your quality of life. Concussion injuries are often associated with neck injuries due to the mechanism, and neck pain can have a direct impact on concussion symptoms.

All of our physiotherapists are well trained in managing neck injuries, but for PCS our Clinical Director, Yurri Hynson, is qualified to deliver ACC funded concussion services.
